Chemical Abstracts Service, a division of the American Chemical Society, has an immediate opening in its Information Technology division for a System Engineer – Quality Assurance. The ideal candidate will develop quality assurance and testing plans, strategies, and approaches for new software products and changes/releases of existing software products. Develop, maintain, and execute test cases and test scripts for assigned initiative(s). Identify, report, escalate, monitor, and mitigate project and product risks. Produce status reports and appropriate associated metrics. Mentor less experienced team members.
In addition, to the above responsibilities the ideal candidate will have:
• Degree in chemistry or biological science or related scientific field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a quality assurance and testing role
• Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated task leadership skills, including ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Experience in online searching using STN products is desired
• Knowledge of CAS and STN databases is desired
• Automated testing using the HP/Mercury tools is desired
• User-proficiency in Microsoft Windows operating systems and software products
• Excellent teaming, facilitation, and collaborative skill
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail, self-motivation, ability to work independently
